My Story
Gardner & Associates, an allied ASID Member, was established on the Monterey peninsula in 1970 and specializes in interior design. Founded by Jan Gardner and now owned and led by her daughter, Julie, the firm became a harbinger of the Carmel/Monterey style. Our thirty-plus years of design work sets the benchmark for West Coast style, as evidenced through our major projects such as the Lodge at Pebble Beach and Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley, Spanish Bay Resort, and The Cypress Inn, Carmel By the Sea. We’ve been able to translate this iconic style developed for past hospitality clients into warm and functional residential designs, as well. The relevance and timelessness of our styling are reflected in many prominent homes, not only within Monterey Peninsula but nationwide.
Owner
I fell in love with interior design when I attended the American College In Paris. From there, I knew I would work in the design field. The fashion and architecture of living in Europe made me appreciate design in all aspects. I worked for the design firm for 15 years as a partner; and now am the owner of Gardner & Associates. I love what I do and enjoy creating beautiful spaces for my clients.
Design Approach
Gardner & Associates continues to provide superior quality interiors producing extraordinary design in many different styles from traditional to contemporary. From ground-breaking projects, working along side world-class architects, to major remodels or downsizing, the design firm is fully adept at overseeing every aspect of a project.
We prefer sophisticated styles of lasting quality, textural fabrics, well-built furniture, and excellent lighting along with unique accessories. Most of the buying is done in San Francisco but we also travel to Los Angeles, New York, & Europe.
We excel in discovering new tradesmen, craftsmen, and artisans to perfect each final project.
